Roofing Materials
Made in Canada
At Classic, we use BP Canada roofing materials and install Velux skylights. Both manufacturers are known for their pursuit of quality, and we happen to like that philosophy. If your roof happens to be older than 20 years, it’s time to think about getting a new one. You have plenty of choices in roofing materials; one will be ideal for your home.
Classic Roofing is proud to be a BP Weather-Tite Certified Roofer which means that we specialize in the installation of the toughest shingles on the market, made by Canadians, for our Canadian weather.
Types of Roofing Materials
Asphalt Shingles
Cost-effective, lightweight, and durable, asphalt shingles are the most popular roofing material throughout North America. Asphalt shingles come in two types: 3-tab and architectural. The latter is better quality and offers more protection, while 3-tab shingles are more budget-friendly. Asphalt shingles generally last between 10-30 years.
Metal Roofing
Want something low maintenance, lightweight, and environmentally-friendly? Go with metal roofing. You can even get it manufactured to mimic asphalt, slate, or wood. Choose between aluminum, copper, steel, or zinc for your home. Each metal is priced separately, and some are heavier than others. However, most metal roofs can last up to 50 years without any issues.
Clay and Concrete Tile Shingles
Appealing to the eye and highly durable, clay and concrete tile roofs are ideal for places that experience extreme weather conditions. Both types can last up to 50 years with proper upkeep.
Skylights
Why not install a skylight? There are so many benefits that you will enjoy! Skylights are an excellent way to get more natural light into a room, which is a healthier and more sustainable alternative to costly keeping an electric light on. Skylights can also help you save on the cost of electricity, add some extra ventilation, increase the resale value of your home, and provide some heat in the winter.
Velux makes skylights of exceptional quality. You can choose motorized skylights that open to circulate a room with the touch of a button. Optionally, you can incorporate some natural light with a fixed skylight.
What to Consider When Shopping For Roofing Materials
As you can see, you aren’t limited to one kind of roofing materials when you choose Classic. Will you choose the ever-popular asphalt shingles, or will you add some flair to your roof with metal or clay? Here are some points to consider before making your choice:
Weight
Roofing materials come in various weights, with clay being the heaviest of what we carry. Because of that, clay tiles may require additional support or a special frame installed. 3-tab asphalt shingles weigh less than architectural shingles, as well.
Cost
Some roofing types last longer than others. Though the outright cost may be more, sometimes it pays to buy slightly more expensive and higher quality materials. This makes for a longer lasting more durable roof.
Colour
Is there a colour available that matches the exterior and design of your home? We have dozens of palettes available to choose from, as well as an online Visualizer so that you can visualize different shingle styles and colours on your particular house in just a few clicks.
Climate
Consider the climate when shopping for roofing materials. Some types are better suited for extreme temperatures than others. Our shingles use Weather-TiteTM technology. The two sealant bands adhere to the previous row of shingles, providing double protection against the elements.
Classic uses top quality materials so that your roof is done right.
